For all those that don’t remember who Jodie Connor is, back last year she had the hit single “Now Or Never” featuring Wiley, she also accompanied Tinchy Stryder on his number one single “In My System“. Well, now she’s back with a new club banger entitled “Take You There” featuring hip hop veteran Busta Rhymes. This could have some impact on the UK charts and should also do some damage on clubbing hotspots.

We saw Kanye West filming scenes for this last month in Quatar and now he has announced that the G.O.O.D Music album will be called Cruel Summer and will have a film that debuts at the Cannes film festival on May 23rd.

After the premiere, the movie will be open for public access for the next two days. Tickets will be available HERE.

A brand new music night is kicking off this Tuesday 22nd May called Music Is My Drug @ Brickhouse in Bricklane and I will be there as a guest judge for the Open Mic section. I will be giving feedback to all the open mic entries and will pick a winner with the fellow judges.

Wow! It’s been a while since our last movie review but we’re back by popular demand and the movie we’ve decided to pick apart is Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comical offering, The Dictator. Put simply this is a powerful pull on satire, something Sacha has wittingly mastered since his inception of the character Ali G back in 1996.

However The Dictator see’s Sacha refer back to fiction rather than exaggerated situationist spoofs (don’t worry, he still finds time to mock the US). The film had a lucrative budget to say the least with one scene containing 20 aqua blue Lamborghini’s driving down Times Square, which is a complete contrast to his last 3 films. The question is.. did it deliver? Pop the lid to find out…

The Dictator see’s Sacha playing a ruthless dictator called Aladeen from the country “Wadiya”. His character pays to sleep with A List celebrities and has people executed for fun. However the story takes a turn when he has to venture to the US to tackle the threats from the UN who are urging him to sign a peace treaty to lead a democracy. One shenanigan leads to another and Aladeen finds himself beardless on the streets of NYC with only a vegetarian-feminst-philanthropist to aid him played disturbingly well by Anna Faris.

The constant racist and misogynistic remarks are executed to perfection and the scene where he finds out the art of wanking will leave any one in stitches. The key question is did the movie top the genius that is Borat and did it make up for the disappointment that was Bruno? Yes to the latter but don’t get me wrong, the film is still one of the funniest to hit the big screen in years and contains consistent moments of genius. Don’t watch the trailer and put your expectations to the back of your mind and you will be in for a full on ab work out – Mitch
